This is my latest oil on canvas. I like the way the light shines between the buildings. This was what we experienced when visiting the Medina in Marrakech, sometimes we could not see the light of day and then suddenly the light would shine through an alley in the distance.
Pastel. This is an exercise done at the academy in pastel. It was my first attempt at using pastel and realise that I have a long road ahead :-). But I am happy with this attempt.
Oil on canvas. African theme focusing on water, that so many people take for granted while others have to walk miles to fetch and carry home in containers. I am happy with the way i have captured the light in this work. I was surprised how difficult it was to paint "water".
Oil on canvas. Leaning more towards abstract work.
Maybe I will attempt something abstract in the near future, but for the moment i am happy to have something recognisable in my work rather than going totally abstract.
Aqaurelle needs patience and i need to work on that. This still life worked for me but generally I dont enjoy working with water colours. I probably need to embrace the technique again with some enthusiasm and who knows what could result from that.
I completed this pencil drawing in a morning. I used many construction guide lines to enable me to create a sense of volume and to achieve perspective. Working in pencil makes it possible to use many tonal values which in turn brings the work to life.
